'Wishing on a Star' Christian Lewis Trust Kids Cancer Charity with X Factor Charity Single
Christian Lewis Trust Kids Cancer Charity will benefit from this year's X Factor Charity Single. The cover of the Rose Royce classic, 'Wishing on a Star' recorded by the 16 X Factor finalists will be available to download on November 27th, and via physical single on 28th November.
Together for Short Lives, the organisation supporting children and young people unlikely to reach adulthood and their families will receive all the net record company proceeds from sales of the single this year. As well as supporting important UK wide work, the large majority of the proceeds will go to local services supporting children and families. This includes 50 charities of which Christian Lewis Trust Kids Cancer Charity is one.
Christian Lewis Trust Kids Cancer Charity was formed in 1989 and since its beginnings many hundreds of families have benefitted from an understanding of what it means to have a child affected by cancer. The charity prides itself in offering care on an individual and personal level. Its primary focus is always on issues that relate to the quality of life for children and their families.
Simon Cowell has worked closely with Together for Short Lives for many years and comments: "Having worked at close hand with this charity and seeing the amazing work they do for kids and their families who need help and support, I am thrilled that the X Factor charity single this year will benefit this charity."
Judith May, Head of Family Services and the spokesperson for Christian Lewis Trust Kids Cancer Charity stated: "We are so pleased to be a part of the X Factor Charity Single. Please get behind us and support all the charities involved. Every purchase of the record counts, so please buy one."
Barbara Gelb, CEO of Together for Short Lives says: "We are delighted to be the beneficiary of this year's X Factor charity single. The money raised from this single gives us the opportunity to improve the lives of these children and families – and crucially raise awareness of the valuable support they need, wherever they live and for as long as they need it. Every single bought – either on line or through the high street – will make such a difference."
The acts performing on the single are: the boys, Craig Colton, Marcus Collins and James Michael; the girls, Janet Devlin, Amelia Lily, Sophie Habibis and Misha Bryan; the groups, Nu Vibe, Little Mix, The Risk and 2 Shoes; and the overs, Kitty Brucknell, Johnny Robinson, Jonjo Kerr and Sami Brookes.
Marcus Collins says: "It's a fantastic song choice, filled with hope. This song is one of my favourites of all time."
Charlie from The Risk says: "All four boys in The Risk are honoured to be a part of this single, and hopefully make a difference to people's lives."
Sophie Habibis says: "I love this song and can't wait to release it. I hope it does really well and raises a lot of money for the charity."
Stefan from Nu Vibe says: "It's good that we're doing this for a less well known charity, giving some much needed exposure."
Kitty Brucknell says: "It's incredible to be able to give something back and hopefully help a lot of people."
Craig Colton says: "It's an honour to record this song, and an honour to be a part of a charity with such a great cause."
Jonjo Kerr says: "When I first entered the competition I always wanted to make the final 16 so I could take part in the charity single and help raise lots of money."
